As-Saffat · Those who set the Ranks
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallAnd those who drive away (the wicked) with reproof
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallAnd those who read (the Word) for a reminder,
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallLo! thy Lord is surely One;
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallLord of the heavens and of the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the sun's risings.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallLo! We have adorned the lowest heaven with an ornament, the planets;
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallWith security from every froward devil.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallThey cannot listen to the Highest Chiefs for they are pelted from every side,
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallOutcast, and theirs is a perpetual torment;
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallSave him who snatcheth a fragment, and there pursueth him a piercing flame.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallThen ask them (O Muhammad): Are they stronger as a creation, or those (others) whom we have created? Lo! We created them of plastic clay.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallNay, but thou dost marvel when they mock
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallAnd heed not when they are reminded,
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallAnd seek to scoff when they behold a portent.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallAnd they say: Lo! this is mere magic;
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallWhen we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised (again)?
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallAnd our forefathers?
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallSay (O Muhammad): Ye, in truth; and ye will be brought low.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallThere is but one Shout, and lo! they behold,
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallAnd say: Ah, woe for us! This is the Day of Judgment.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallThis is the Day of Separation, which ye used to deny.
Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall(And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallInstead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell;
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallAnd stop them, for they must be questioned.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallWhat aileth you that ye help not one another?
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallNay, but this day they make full submission.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallAnd some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallThey say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth).
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallThey answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallWe had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallNow the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom).
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallThus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallThen lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallLo! thus deal We with the guilty.
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallFor when it was said unto them, There is no God save Allah, they were scornful
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallAnd said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet?
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallNay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him).
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallLo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom -
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallYe are requited naught save what ye did -
Mohammed Marmaduke William PickthallSave single-minded slaves of Allah;
